Mikey Mansell

“Hi, I’m Mikey Mansell from Doncaster in South Yorkshire, and I race 1/10th electric touring cars at both club and national level. I’ve been into RC racing from a fairly young age—my dad’s a racer too, and although he doesn’t compete as much anymore, he’s still very involved in my racing, which is how it should be in a great hobby like this. Right now, I’m racing the Schumacher Mi9 chassis mainly in the stock category. You’ll usually find me competing locally at Doncaster and Sheffield indoor touring car clubs, and when racing outdoors, I’m sometimes at Halifax or Wombwell MCC. Through winter, I also get involved in some 1/10th 2WD buggy racing at MB Raceway.

I’ve been running OptiPower LiPos for about four or five years now, and I currently use their 6600mAh 2S packs, which have been solid performers for me. I’m really passionate about the hobby and try to give back however I can. I help organize and promote Primrose Valley Model Week every year, and I’m also part of the MiCC (Midland Indoor Carpet Championship) setup crew.

This season I’ve got some big events lined up, including BRCA Nationals at Colchester and Cotswolds, all MiCC rounds, and the EWS International. Some of my key achievements include 9th overall in the BRCA Touring Car Nationals, 2x Wombwell Club Champion, 3rd in F2 Modified at MiCC, multiple national wins in 1/8th electric on-road, a GT8 Nitro National win, and podium finishes in both 200mm and 220mm BRCA Nitro Nationals. I’m always looking forward to the next challenge and, hopefully, some European events soon—they look incredible for the experience.”
